Ohio Catholic Responds to the Lack of Financial Literacy Amongst Students

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, OH-May 27, 2010-In response to the lack of financial literacy of students in Ohio, Ohio Catholic Federal Credit Union has hired a full-time Member Education Coordinator, Barbara Sulik.

The Member Education Coordinator position was created to provide free financial education to students in grade schools and high schools throughout the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.  Barbara will work with school principals and educators to tailor lesson plans to meet state requirements.

Ohio Catholic CEO Randy Trimm explains, “Since 1954 Ohio Catholic has been supporting Catholic education.  I am delighted to expand on that commitment by hiring Barbara to provide resources to the schools throughout the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.  The need for financial literacy is evident considering the average debt of a college graduate in Ohio is over $23,000 ”.

Sulik has an extensive training and development background.  Previously, she was the Senior Manager of Culture and Service at HealthCare Parking Systems of America at the Cleveland Clinic.  A Cleveland, Ohio native, Barbara is a graduate of St. John Nepomucene and Trinity High School.  She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Master’s degree from North Carolina State University.
