FAQ’s for General Wire Transfer

What are wire transfers?

  • A – Wire transfers are a safe, reliable way to transfer funds from an account at one financial institution to an account at a different institution.

Where can OCFCU wire transfers be sent?

  • Wire transfers can be sent to just about any financial institution in the United States.

What does it cost for wire transfers?

  • OCFCU does not charge a fee for receiving a wire transfer as long as the sending instructions are correct.  There is a fee associated with out-going wire transfer services unless you have three services or $1,000.00 in your savings account at the credit union. These fees are subject to change without notice. See Fee Schedule.

Can I do a wire transfer over the phone or do I need to come in to OCFCU in person?

  • As long as you are both the sender and receiver of the wire transfer, we can take your request over the phone. If the wire transfer is going to a third party, you need to come into one of our offices to sign the wire transfer request form.

Can I do a wire transfer online using It’s Me 247?

  • No.

Where do I go to send a wire transfer?

  • All branches are able to process wire transfers. 

Do I have to have an account at OCFCU to send wire transfers?

  • Yes, wire transfer services are for our members.

Is there a minimum or maximum amount of money I can wire transfers?

  • No, you can wire any amount that is currently in your account.

How long will it take OCFCU to process my request?

  • All wire requests are processed within 1-2 hours from the time of approval, provided funds are available. Wire transfers requests received after 2:00 p.m. will be processed the next business day.

How will I know that my wire has been done?

  • You will be able to view the deduction from your account.

FAQ’s for Incoming Wire Transfers

What do I need to receive a wire transfer to Ohio Catholic Federal Credit Union (OCFCU)?

  • Your wire transfer request must be initiated with the institution sending the funds. You will need to provide the sending institution these instructions:

What is the cost to receive a bank to bank wire transfer?

  • Free. OCFCU does not charge a fee for receiving a wire transfer as long as the sending instructions are correct.

What if the institution sending the wire transfer has questions?

  • The institution can contact the Accounting Department at (216) 663-6800.

Who should I contact if my wire has not arrived and it has been longer than indicated?

  • Only the SENDER of the wire can trace and locate a wire. Ask the originator to contact their bank in regards to tracing funds that have not arrived. Trace requests can take up to 1-2 days for domestic payments.

What is Corporate One Federal Credit Union and why are my wire transfers sent to them?

  • OCFCU is not on line with the Federal Reserve System to receive wires directly. Instead they are received by Corporate One Federal Credit Union who then credits our account, and notifies us that your wire transfer was received. The further credit information tells Corporate One Federal Credit Union which credit union the wire transfer belongs to.

Are the funds from wire transfers available immediately?

  • Yes.

Where are the funds from a wire transfer posted?

  • Unless specified, incoming wire transfers are posted to your checking account. If you would like your funds posted to savings, money market, or applied to a loan, please specify that in your wire transfer request special instructions section.

How will I know when my wire transfer has been received?

  • There are three different ways you can confirm that your wire transfer has been received and posted:
    • 1) Log on to It’s Me 247 online banking to view your account balance
    • 2) Call CU*TALK our Touch Tone Teller Service at (800) 860-5704
    • 3) During business hour call the Accounting Department at (216) 663-6800

How long does it take to receive funds from a wire transfer?

  • Wire transfers to US institutions usually take about half of a business day to be received. Normally if they are sent in the morning they are received that afternoon (excluding days the credit union is not open).

FAQ’s for Outgoing Wire Transfers

What information do I need to send a wire transfer?

  • Generally you will need:
    • name of receiver
    • address of receiver
    • account number of receiver
    • name of receiver’s financial institution
    • wiring instructions for the receiving financial institution
    • city and state of the receiving financial institution
    • any special instructions
    • The complete name and address for the person sending and receiving the wire is required

When can I send a wire transfer?

  • Wire transfers can be sent: Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for domestic wires (excluding days the credit union is not open). Requests received after 2:00 p.m. will be processed the next business day.

Can payments be debited from any account?

  • Yes, we can take wire transfer funds from any account at OCFCU.

What if I do not have sufficient balances available to process the wire?

  • If you do not have sufficient available balances to process the wire, we will not process the wire. You must fill out a new form when you have sufficient funds in your account.

What does it cost to send a wire transfer?

What is the cutoff time for receiving wire funds?

  • Wire funds can be received any time between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. EST Monday through Friday.

How long will it take for the beneficiary to get the money?

  • This depends on geography: Beneficiary banks within the United States: allow 1-3 hours Note: Time differences, local holidays, and bank closings will affect credit times.

How much is my receiver charged when picking up the funds?

  • Your receiver would need to check with their financial institution to see if they will be charged a fee for receiving a wire transfer. OCFCU does not charge a fee to receive wire transfers.

Can I send a wire transfer with a Pay upon Proper ID instruction?

  • No. OCFCU does not accept wire transfers sent with the instructions “Pay upon Proper ID”.
