Ohio Catholic Federal Credit Union Salutes Military Veterans

Ohio Catholic Federal Credit Union proudly partnered with the Knights of Columbus – Victor J. Paul Assembly #1768 to provide financial support to bring a group of veterans from the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center to an Akron Rubber Ducks game on Wednesday, June 28.  Veterans from the Akron Valor Home and Akron Valor House were also invited to attend the game.

Over 100 military veterans attended the outing and were also provided with a complimentary pre-game buffet of traditional ball park food.  The Knights of Columbus Color Guard provided the colors for the National Anthem and one of the participating veterans threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Larry Thrasher, Akron Branch Manager for Ohio Catholic FCU, worked closely with Bernie Czarkowski, Knights of Columbus – Victor J. Paul Assembly #1768, to help underwrite the cost of the outing for the veterans.

“We are proud to partner with the Knights of Columbus to help pay tribute to the outstanding men and women who have protected our freedoms by serving in the armed forces,” notes Larry Thrasher.  “May God continue to watch over all of the veterans, as well as the men and women serving in the armed forces today,” adds Thrasher.

The Akron Rubber Ducks held on to the defeat the Erie SeaWolves 6-5 to ensure a joyous bus trip back to Cleveland for the veterans.
